If it munches your router, please contact Thornton Technical for recovery assistance, charged at standard rates. ########################## Before you begin: 1. Backup your existing configuration settings - in the admin panel go to System > Firmware > Save Config to disk, will download a 'config.xml' file 2. Disconnect all peripheral devices / network cables from your router 3. Disconnect the ADSL cable 4. Disable wireless internet on your computer 5. Connect to the router on an ethernet / network cable - NOT wirelessly! 6. Disable all firewalls, antivirus and security systems on your computer 7. Ping the router to check you have good connectivity Instructions: 1. Download the file from here: http://www.thorntontechnical.com/resources/software/g624t 2. Extract the archive to a folder on your computer. 3. Launch tiupgrade.exe 4. Enter your router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) 5. Enter your router's admin password (the password you use to access the admin area) 6. Hit Next 7. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. 8. It should complete successfully, the router will reboot, and you should be able to connect to it on 192.168.1.1, using user 'admin' and password 'admin'. You can now set up the new router, referring to your config.xml file if needed. UK users see note below. 9. If it failed for some reason, double check that all firewalls and such like are switched off, and try again, this time checking the 'corrupted image mode' box 10. If it still fails, you may need revert back to previous version of the FW. Contact us if that situation arises. Note for UK users: In order to get the router working for use on UK ADSL, you need to follow these steps: 1. Login to the control panel 2. Click WAN 3. In the dropdown box, select pvc0. In virtual circuit, select 'disabled'. Click apply. 4. Select pvc3. In virtual circuit, select 'enabled'. Click apply. 5. In WAN setting, select PPPoE / PPPoA. Set VPI to 0, VCI to 38. Fill in the rest of the details to match those provided by your ISP.
