Search Engine Optimisation

Allows us to demystify a few Internet myths:

1. There's no such thing as guaranteed placement in a search engine - anyone who offers it to you is lying. (Don't believe it? See this page : "We do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear.")
2. There is exactly zero need to repeatedly "submit" your website to a search engine - it makes no difference
3. Be extremely wary of SEO "specialists" whose own website doesn't feature in the search engines - they probably got themselves banned using underhand techniques
4. Elvis is not dead.

OK, so I might have made the last one up, but the others are true. Search engines are clever animals and they rely on a lot more than a submission form and a few META tags. It is, however, possible to secure an excellent position, near or at the top, for search phrases and keywords. There are two ways to achieve this: 1) keyword, and content optimisation, 2) link strength and density. That may sound like complete gibberish, so we won't bore you with the details.
